FAQ for Parents

Understanding your child's football development journey

How do I access my child's progress?
Your child's coach will invite you to InsideFooty either by email or by sending you a sign-up link (often via WhatsApp or your club's messaging group). Click the link, create your account, and you'll automatically be connected to your child's profile. From your dashboard, you'll see their latest ratings, session feedback, and development trends. If you have multiple children at the same club, you'll see all of them in one place.
What do the ratings mean?
Coaches rate players on a 1-10 scale for each session across four development areas: Technical (ball skills), Tactical (game understanding), Physical (fitness and movement), and Psychological (attitude and confidence). Lower scores indicate areas that need more focus, while higher scores show strengths. These aren't grades or judgements - they're a tool to help identify what to work on and celebrate progress over time.
How often is progress updated?
Progress is updated after each training session when the coach submits their ratings. You'll see new data appear in your dashboard typically within 24 hours of a session. The development chart shows trends over time, so you can see improvement across weeks and months, not just individual sessions.
Can I see historical sessions?
Yes! Your dashboard shows a history of all sessions your child has attended. You can see the ratings given, any coach notes, and how each session compared to their average. This helps you understand patterns - for example, your child might perform better in certain conditions or show consistent improvement in specific areas.
What are badges and how are they earned?
Badges are achievements that celebrate your child's progress and effort. Coaches award badges for things like: consistent improvement in a skill area, great attitude in training, helping teammates, or reaching development milestones. Badges appear on your child's profile and are a great way to recognise effort beyond just performance ratings.
Who can see my child's data?
Your child's data is private and secure. Only the following people can see it: you (as a linked parent), coaches at your club who work with your child, and club administrators. Data is never shared with other parents, other clubs, or third parties. We take safeguarding and data protection very seriously.
How do I contact the coach?
InsideFooty doesn't currently have a built-in messaging system - we recommend using your existing communication channels with the club (WhatsApp groups, email, etc.). If you have questions about your child's ratings or feedback, speak to the coach at the next training session or through your usual contact method.
Do I have to pay for InsideFooty?
InsideFooty is paid for by the club, not by individual parents. You won't receive any invoices or payment requests from us directly. Some clubs may choose to include the cost (99p per player per month) within their regular club subscriptions, but that's between you and your club. As a parent, you simply sign up and view your child's progress at no direct cost to you.
Can I add comments or feedback?
Currently, InsideFooty is focused on coach-to-parent communication. We're exploring features that would let parents share observations (like "practiced passing at home this week") in future updates. Use the feedback button if this is something you'd find valuable!
